I decided to work with Richard because his diagnosis and analysis of my needs was exceptional. Lower back pain was hampering sporting ambitions and general life so Richard embarked on a programme to build all round strength as well as specificity for swimming. My swimming programme was aiming for FINA World Masters qualifier times by mid 2012 which we achieved by adding previously unreachable qualification times in seven events after just twelve months training together. Alongside a rigorous pool regime we achieved in the region of 3% to 5% improvements in most events and after twelve months work no back pain.

I have been working with Richard Harris for over a year during which time I have taken part in a number of endurance events including triathlon and marathons etc.

The training that I have done with Richard has been around developing my core strength and his knowledge in this area is first class. I remained injury free during a period of very intensive training which enabled me to compete in events on a regular basis. He has also helped me with my nutrition and training in general.

Following a bad cycling accident and extensive shoulder surgery Richard helped me recover quickly and get back into running and swimming. His medical expertise and the fact that he could liaise on a technical level with my physiotherapist was a great help. Exercising in a small group under Richard’s tuition has certainly made me work harder that I would in the gym or in a normal exercise class.  I have found I have been able to push myself a little further each session thanks to his insistence and encouragement.  Richard has planned different sequences of exercises for each session and holds them outside whenever possible so they are always different, unpredictable and stimulating which in turn distracts me from how hard I am having to work.  At the end of every session I am surprised and pleased at what I have achieved.

I started training with Richard around two months ago with the aim of building muscle mass. The one-to-one sessions he devised have been phenomenal. He started the training with a thorough consultation that lasted the best part of 2 hours covering highly technical physiological analysis by the end of which a clear objective was derived and a schedule of training was put in place.

I train with Richard three times per week, the best part about it is knowing that I am being trained by a professional. I don’t have to worry about what exercises I have to do that day and what my progress has been as he takes care of all these aspects.

Quite honestly, I would never push myself as hard in the gym had it not been for his professional and motivational guidance. I train at least 60% harder than if I was to do it by myself. The thing here is you really see the difference. I’ve spent years trying to train by myself at the gym over the past 10 years, at times going to the gym up to 5 times a week, the results have always disappointed me and a s result I stop going. With Richard, we train three times a week, and the results are 10 times than when I was training alone.

In addition, Richard has shed some real light about my nutrition that has been working marvellously as part of my training. He is an astute personal trainer very amicable and hard-working, his motivation during our sessions are second to none making the entire experience very enjoyable. I have had several personal trainers in the past, Richard certainly ranks above the rest. Probably the best investment I have made for myself. Thank you Richard.

A few years ago I was actually quite fit and strong, just in time for my wedding and that was what kept me motivated. After I married and a child was on the way, life seemed to get busier and busier with less and less free time: exercise and diet suffered; motivation disappeared; clothes felt a size too small; aches and pains returned.

4 months ago my wife introduced me to Richard.

Richard is highly qualified and has recently been trained on Cross Fit, an exercise approach that had worked for me in the past. Richard brings with him attention to detail, a deep understanding of how the body works and how to get the best out of you. Richard is a very friendly person who demonstrates great empathy with his Clients yet has an inner strength that rubs off on you and translates into a motivation and determination to succeed.

Richard is not a ‘shout hard, break you down and build you up again’ type of trainer. He works with you to build you up carefully yet quickly without you realising how far you have come in such a short time until you actually think about it and notice the flab is going and you are leaner, stronger, fitter and just feel so much better about yourself.

I could not recommend Richard more – the sessions are fun and varied, yet challenging and the results are so very rewarding.

I have been training with Richard in charge since November 2010 whilst recovering from a cruciate ligament reconstruction due to a skiing accident. At that time I had a swollen stiff, sore right knee. Richard has worked me through this to push me when I needed it and give me confidence to pursue my other sporting interests mainly golf, skiing and learning to run. I choose to work with Richard to help improve my football performance. As a centre back, the importance of tackling and winning headers is well known. I already feel faster, lighter on my feet and I am winning far more tackles than before. Richard has also helped keep me motivated in his sessions but also outside of his sessions in the gym. Richard is a ‘Legend’. I was pleased to have found him to help me with my Milton Keynes Marathon challenge. We had just over six months to get me ready for this big challenge, 26 miles.  I had run the London Marathon 4 years before and vowed I would never do another, but after meeting Richard, I knew, not only could I do it, but I could also aim for a Personal Best.  Along the training journey I had some injuries that were soon put right. He made me an intensive programme, that offered a hard, but fun way of training, it not only helped my general well being and posture, but also my stamina and strength to reach my goal.  We were bang on with the programme and end result of 4 hours and 30 minutes, knocking half and hour off my previous time.

I would recommend Richard to anyone, seeking any goal in life, he is very motivating, knowledgeable, patient and a genuinely great guy.  Thanks Richard.

Richard was recommended to me by a good friend who I recently noticed had started to look very healthy and trim. I decided to train with Richard once per week after his very thorough consultation process. Since then I have lost 2 inches on my waist, 7% body fat and I have even surprised myself at how hard I could train! The sessions with Richard are very intense, but his constant assurances ease my mind and help me through them. Richard has made me realise that I never took myself out of my comfort zone during exercise. Initially when my wife introduced me to Richard, I was hoping to just use his advice and guidance to achieve my goals in my own time. I soon realised that this wouldn’t work! His professionalism, consultations and planning along with my input have allowed us to achieve my goal in a sensible time. I have been training with Richard for over a year now. Richard’s in depth analysis during his consultation allowed him to design training specifically for me, especially to improve my flexibility and movement. Like everyone I have suffered with bad backs, knee issues and the like. However, alongside his work with my chiropractor, I now live with no episodes of pain in any joint! I have known Richard for many years through playing football together. This is the main reason I chose to train with Richard – to improve my strength and speed for football. My weakness is my lack of sprinting speed and I already can tell a difference. My ability to accelerate has improved beyond what I could imagine in such a short space of time. Richard has worked with me for nearly 2 years now. As a keen endurance athlete and marathon runner, Richard explained the importance of strength training in order to help progress my running. Before Richard I had not done any strength work and it was starting to tell as my right knee was regularly painful during running. His assisted stretching and guidance and advice to use a foam roller has massively helped my knee and quadriceps flexibility. His training sessions are very very challenging but never too much. He knows how to progress training appropriately. I am now running pain free and managed to complete the 2011 New York Marathon below our target of less than 4 hours! With Richard’s planning and training, I am hoping to complete the 2013 London Marathon in less than 3 hours 45 minutes. Watch this space!

Initially, my husband treated me to some training with Richard and it has made such a difference to my lifestyle and sporting performance. As a keen rower, there are several elements that are crucial to help with performance. Richard initially set to work on my technique and constantly reminds of this. We are slowly getting there! However my progression with Richard has far exceeded my expectations. I am lifting loads I could never have imagined I could lift and yet I have not got big or bulky. I have lost 10% body fat along the way and this has been duly noted by my rowing colleagues! I have suffered for years with arthritis of my knees and ankles and Richard has somehow designed the training around this so that I can still train and row powerfully. The sessions are also thoroughly enjoying!

We are now as a 4 starting to win races regularly and Richard has played a big part in that. We have recommended him to work with our rowing club to help our young athletes to progress to their full potential.

I chose to train with Richard because I was desperate to be exercising regularly to achieve my goals. However, with a hectic lifestyle, I suffered with low self esteem and could not motivate myself to get to the gym. Richard is always so encouraging and I thoroughly enjoy his training. The feeling of satisfaction after his sessions is addictive. I train with Richard once a week, twice if time permits. As my job role requires me to drive many miles, I suffered with reduced movement and stiff joints. One part of the training I enjoy most is his assisted stretches at the end. One of the benefits of training with Richard is the massive improvement in strength and power. As a keen golfer, I have never been a big hitter of the ball. However I hit the ball 20 yards further regularly each shot. This has helped drop my handicap into single figures! Thanks mate!
